Patrol Division


Patrol officers have a variety of responsibilities that are essential for maintaining public safety and order within the community. Some of their key responsibilities include:

Responding to Calls for Service: Patrol officers are the first responders to emergency and non-emergency calls, addressing incidents such as accidents, crimes, disturbances, and other public safety concerns.

  • Conducting Patrols: They conduct regular patrols within their assigned areas to deter criminal activity, provide a visible law enforcement presence, and identify potential problems before they escalate.
  • Enforcing Laws and Ordinances: Patrol officers enforce local, state, and federal laws, issuing citations, making arrests, and ensuring compliance with regulations.
  • Community Policing: Utilizing community policing concepts, they build relationships with community members, work collaboratively to solve problems, and address the concerns of residents and businesses.
  • Investigating Incidents: They conduct preliminary investigations at crime scenes, gather evidence, interview witnesses, and prepare detailed reports for further investigation by detectives if necessary.
  • Traffic Control: Patrol officers manage traffic flow, enforce traffic laws, respond to accidents, and assist motorists to ensure road safety.
  • Providing Assistance: They offer assistance to individuals in need, including first aid, crisis intervention, and referrals to social services.
  • Maintaining Public Order: Patrol officers work to maintain public order during events, protests, and other gatherings, ensuring the safety of all participants.
  • Reporting and Documentation: They complete necessary reports and documentation related to incidents, arrests, and activities during their shift, ensuring accurate records for legal and administrative purposes.
  • Crime Prevention: Patrol officers engage in crime prevention activities, such as conducting security checks, educating the public on safety practices, and participating in community outreach programs.
  • Emergency Response: They respond to and manage emergency situations, such as natural disasters, active shooter incidents, and other critical events, coordinating with other emergency services as needed.

By fulfilling these responsibilities, patrol officers play a crucial role in maintaining the safety and well-being of the community they serve.

Vehicle Crash Reports


The Arkansas Department of Public Safety maintains the central repository of all vehicle accidents within the State of Arkansas.  Reports are usually available within ten (10) business days following the date of the crash.
